Dr. San Martin is President and CEO of Plan International USA, one of the oldest and largest international development organizations in the world. Plan International, established in 1937, focuses on children’s rights and has offices in over 70 countries across Africa, Asia, and the Americas. The organization is best known for its Because I am a Girl Campaign, a major initiative to mobilize support and funding for girl’s rights. Under Dr. San Martin’s leadership, Plan is investing in enhancing reporting and accountability mechanisms, and is among the first International INGOs in the US to publish its grant information to International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) standards. Prior to joining Plan, Dr. San Martin was Group Vice President for International at Abt Associates, a consulting firm headquartered in Cambridge, MA. Before joining Abt Associates, Dr. San Martin was Partner in charge of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ (PwC) International Financing Institutions (IFI) practice. Dr. San Martin was also Director of Operations at the World Bank Group’s Multilateral Guarantee Agency (MIGA).

Dr. San Martin has a Ph.D. in Political Economy and Government from Harvard University, a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and a BS in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.
