In the spirit of wearing many hats, Caliopy Glaros serves as a development professional, intercultural trainer, and volunteer manager at SPOON. Caliopy’s journey began as a technical designer in the fashion industry, where she worked with garment factories all over the world, eventually becoming more interested in understanding the cross-cultural interactions between people rather than designing clothes. This led her to a career in higher education, where she spent over four years helping business students achieve professional and academic success at the School of Business Administration at Portland State University. Prior to joining SPOON, Caliopy worked in rural Japan, where she taught English and cross-cultural communications to children and adults. Caliopy is passionate about connecting SPOON’s advocates to our work and providing them with opportunities to elevate the cause. She brings people together through events, campaigns, and grants, and works to cultivate authentic and trusting relationships with donors, funders, volunteers, and other key stakeholders. She also loves helping SPOON’s team develop essential skills for fostering effective relations across cultures.
